Am I a youth leader?
Not everyone wants to be a leader. If you are someone who others follow and look up to, you are a leader!
Is it “normal” to feel nervous about trying to champion change in my community?
Change can be challenging, for everyone! If you are feeling nervous, you are not alone. Many youth in communities all over the world have worries, fears…and excitement, when looking and thinking about change.
Who can participate in youth leadership training?
After the initial youth engagement is finished, participating youth in the community can decide if they want to continue with youth leadership…or not. This is a decision-point for youth. Those youth who want to continue with the leadership training must commit to participate in two further workshops (about 5 days in total), plus some homework.
PHASE 1 Project Frames and Time lines (initial 4-5 weeks).
What does successful youth leadership look like?
This is an important question! This is not a standard leadership training program for youth. There will be a natural selection process…not all youth in a community are likely to want to participate in a social entrepreneurship project, AND THAT IS FINE. We are looking for the next Martin Luther King in Aboriginal Canada, in Yemen, in India! This is not about numbers; it is about the impact that can be made by a few individuals…or even by one individual leader.

There are often overwhelming barriers to youth leadership in a community. How can these barriers be conquered?
We aren’t naïve; we understand and appreciate that there can be overwhelming barriers to change. Poverty, uncooperative governments, lack of transparency….can all plot to block change and youth leadership. We are prepared to talk about these barriers in a constructive way.

How will social entrepreneurial projects in a community be identified during this leadership stage of this Unveiling Youth Potential program?
The ultimate goal is to enable youth leaders in a community to use entrepreneurialism to effectively support their community’s needs. The youth leadership workshops will help youth identify the needs of their community, and better understand their own leadership goals. To be able to learn how these goals combine.
What can social entrepreneurship do in a community?
You can transform a community through social entrepreneurship. You can give others hope about what is possible. You can help address pressing needs.
